This 21-year-old medical student, whose MRI scan showed a large extrusion of the L4-L5 disc with a caudal migration of the disc tissue and compression on the L5 root, is proof that spinal diseases do not only affect the elderly.
The above mentioned MRI findings caused right-sided lumboischialgia, in which conservative (physical) therapy did not result with the desired effect.
Considering the clinical picture, unsuccessful conservative treatment and the MRI findings themselves, our neurosurgeon assoc. prof. Karlo Houra, MD, PhD indicated and successfully performed minimally-invasive endoscopic disc surgery under local anesthesia.
