Assoc. Prof. Karlo Houra, MD, PhD specializes in minimally invasive procedures and surgery of the cervical and lumbar spine. Since joining Aksis Specialty Hospital’s expert team in April 2017, he has been developing and applying the most advanced minimally invasive spinal treatments in this part of the world – particularly, endoscopic spine neurosurgery.
Asst. Prof. Mladen Miškulin, MD, PhD, prim. trained at the world-renowned Rizzoli Orthopedic Institute in Bologna, where he completed his residency in 1997. Specialties include: the installation of joint endoprostheses, arthroscopic surgery, and traumatology.
In August 2018, our team was joined by Andrej Radić, MD, PhD, prim., a highly educated and experienced doctor dealing with diagnosis, and conservative and surgical treatment of diseases and injuries of the locomotor system. He is the first and only Croatian physician to pass the challenging fellowship exam before the European Board for Orthopedics and Traumatology, thus earning the FEBOT title.
Dr. Robert Saftić, a fellowship-trained and board-certified spinal neurosurgeon, is a pioneer of endoscopic spine surgery in Croatia and Southeastern Europe. Specialties include minimally invasive spinal surgery with the philosophy of choosing the least invasive and most effective methods of treating spinal diseases and diagnosing and treating back pain and sciatica caused by disc degeneration.
Ernest Irha, MSc, MD, prim. specialized abroad in the field of the foot and ankle surgery, with special interest in corrections of foot deformities associated with so-called flat feet. Correction of all deformities of the front, middle and rear part of the foot, and post-traumatic deformities.
Asst. Prof. Dubravko Huljev, MD, PhD, prim. specialist in general surgery, subspecialist in traumatology, and subspecialist in plastic reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, joined the AKSIS Special Hospital team of associates during 2020.
